1) Where are you located?
IFP Minnesota's Center for Media Arts is located just
off the intersection of Hwy 280 and University Avenue
in the Midway area of St. Paul:
IFP Minnesota's Center for Media Arts
2446 University Ave. West
Suite 100
Saint Paul, MN 55114
P: (651) 644-1912 x101
2) What does IFP stand for?
While it used to stand for "Independent Feature Project",
the name was officially changed in 2002 from an acronym
to literally just "IFP", a nationally recognized brand
that continues to assist and support independent filmmakers,
photographers, and screenwriters.
3) Can anyone utilize IFP Minnesota's
resources?
IFP is first and foremost a membership organization, and
many of our resources and benefits are available exclusively
to our members, such as low-cost equipment rental, digital
edit suite use, and B+W wet photo darkroom access. Anyone
from the general public can take IFP MN's classes and
workshops; however, members receive a generous discount
on class tuition. There are a wealth of screenings, seminars,
and other special events which IFP offers throughout the
year that are free and open to the public.
4) I have a great idea for a movie.
Can you guys make it?
IFP Minnesota does not produce, fund, or "greenlight"
films. We offer a wealth of information and resources
to filmmakers and screenwriters such as equipment rental,
editing facilities, grant and funding opportunities, and
exhibition and promotional support that can assist in
the filmmaking process. However, IFP Minnesota is not
a production entity.
5) I took a class at the U of M
last semester. Can I get a student membership?
Students must be able to provide proof of current, full-time
enrollment at the time of member registration (generally
student ID and current fee statement for class enrollment).
6) Do you guys sell expendables
(tape stock, photo paper, etc.)?
No. Members must provide their own blank media and other
expendables for projects. This includes, mini-DV, DVD-R's,
CD-R's, VHS, DAT tapes, photo paper, etc.
